Presentation of the estate

13 generations have succeeded eachother on the estate, it was the Gresser family who exploited vineyards in the town of Andlau in the 18thcentury, and operated a mill on behalf of the abbey.

It was in 1850 that Alfred Gresser took over and started working on the quality of the wines, which won him numerous awards in tasting competitions. He then became a pioneer in the sale of bottled wines, something rare at the time!

1918, Fernand Gresser made great changes, the milling activity stopped, in order to be able to devote himself solely to wine, he developed a business, he bought the first trucks in order to deliver the capital.

It was in 1945 that his daughter Denise took over the estate with her husband René Kreydenweiss, an agronomist, who preferred working in the vineyard. The merchant business was stopped, to focus more actively on sales to private customers. Over the years, the name Kreydenweiss became established.

In 1971, Marc took over the estate, being an avant-garde winemaker like his ancestors were, he pushed his thinking towards the complex and pure expression of the terroir in the wines. He focuses on the development of the vine so that it can produce quality grapes. He also improves the quality and precision of the work in the cellar.

1984, the label becomes the free expression of a different artist for each vintage.

1989, Marc and Maenfred, his eldest son, implement biodynamics on the estate.

1999, Marc buys the estate in Costières de Nîmes, today managed by his youngest son Jean.

It was in 2003 that Antoine, son of Marc, started making his mark on the estate in Alsace, he participated for 6 years in the vinifications in the South and Alsace.

2008, the year of upheavals, Maenfred died of a forestry accident, he was associated with Marc and had worked with him for 20 years. Marc decided to settle on the estate in Manduel, leaving Antoine facing his first vintage. A new project was to see the light of day, animal traction with the arrival of Sam, our Comtois horse.

Today, the domain is 13.5ha of vines, 30 years of biodynamics, 4 Grands Crus (Kastelberg, Wiebelsberg, Moenchberg and Kirchberg de Barr), a motivated team, 6 partner winemakers for the purchase of grapes and two horses.

Winemakers Philosophy

I have become passionate about our lands and I am rooted in this place with my wife Charlotte and our three daughters. Following my ancestors, I continue this quest, biodynamics and respect for our environment are part of my deep convictions. Let us not forget that we borrow the land from our children, biodiversity and the life of our soils are our leitmotiv.

I like vibrant and lively wines with a textured mouthfeel, wines which do not leave people indifferent but that also do not please everyone. Wines that are like me.
