The Albert Mann estate is located in Wettolsheim in the center of Alsace vineyard. It is managed by two brothers Barthelmé, Maurice runs the vineyards and Jacky handles the cellar. They are assisted by Marie-Claire, wife of Maurice, is responsible of the management and Marie-Thérèse, sister and law, takes charge the commercial. Since, Pauline and Antoine, the children of the two respective couples, joined them to perpetuate the know-how.
The vineyard
Together, they exploit 25 ha of vineyards which include seven Grands Crus, two Field names, and one Clos in monopole (Clos de la Faille).
To only find nature in the bottle, the whole estate realizes biologic and biodynamic viticulture.
Philosophy of the winemaker
The goal of the estate is to produce wine that is in harmony with nature.
We began practing biodynamic viticulture in 1997 in three grand crus vineyards and then, since 2000 the estate's wines have been organically certified by Ecocert. Over the following years, we applied biodynamics across the entirety of our estate and since 2010, we have been certified biodynamic by Ecocert for Biodyvin. This viticulturally practice is labor-intensive and more costly but il gives the wine the purest reflection of its terroir and its own identity because wine is the memory of the grape.
