Presentation of the estate and its history
Presentation of the estate and its history
The Village of Sancerre and its hills are the cradle of Domaine Fouassier. The Fouassier family has been working the Sancerre hillsides for 10 generations. First of all in polyculture and breeding, the estate has been exclusively wine-growing since the end of the 60s.
Since the 1980s, Pierre and Jean-Michel were the first to vinify and bottle most of the estate's wines. At present, on the 60 hectares cultivated in vines, we find 10 parcels in white, a quiet rosé and an ancestral method, 4 reds and 3 vintages in white. At the beginning of the new century, the arrival of Benoit and Paul at the domaine brought a new impetus with biodynamic cultivation, a work in the cellar that was even more observant than interventionist, as well as vinification in amphoras.
Winegrower's philosophy
Winegrower's philosophy
Through our meetings during and after our studies, we realized that conventional viticulture would not be part of our future. That the land we inherited could not be expressed through the use of chemicals. Just as working yourself and all our employees in conventional vineyards compromised our health. Beyond organic farming, biodynamic agriculture was obvious because of its link to the lunar and planetary rhythms to produce wines that are healthy for the earth and for mankind.
